CARBONDALE — Margaret Mayhugh, 83, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019, in Herrin Hospital.
She was born June 19, 1935 in Liberty, Kentucky, to Calvin and Lorene (Woodrum) Bailey.
She had been a cook for various schools in Carbondale and Decatur.
She loved to make quilts and play card games with her friends.
She was a member of Murdale Baptist Church.
Margaret is survived by four sons, Jim (Kathie) Mayhugh of Arizona, Danny (Cathy) Mayhugh of Carterville, Greg (Lori) Mayhugh of De Soto and Steve Mayhugh of California; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; seven great-stepgrandchildren; a brother, Charlie (Anita) Bailey of Columbus, Indiana; a sister, Catherine (Kenny) Hawn of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister-in-law, Violet Bailey of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; half-siblings, Carl Woodrum of Louisville, Kentucky, and Virginia May of Campbellsville, Kentucky; other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Hubert Bailey, Harold Bailey and Wilda Lowe.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be in Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, Indiana, at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Murdale Baptist Church and/or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
