ENERGY — Philip W. Preston, 66, passed away at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Philip and his wife, Judy, own and operate Pine Lakes Golf Course in Herrin and formerly owned and operated P.W. Preston Roofing in Kankakee for 27 years.
He was a member of Marion Elks Lodge 800.
Philip was born Jan. 25, 1951, in Kankakee, to Richard Preston and Ruby (Smith) Preston Jarrett.
Philip married Judy Ann Bonds on June 27, 1970, in Bradley. She survives of Energy.
Also surviving are their children, Tina Craft of Energy; two sons, Scott Preston and his wife, Andrea, of Herrin, Brett Preston and his fiancé, Rachel Fields of Energy; son-in-law, Christopher Craft of Hoschton, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Austin Craft, Melissa Craft, Logan Craft, Corbin Preston, Reece Preston, Leo Preston, Maddie Mahan and Mykah Mahan; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Gayle Preston of Mahomet, Gary and Diana Preston of Manteno, David and Linda Preston of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Julie Preston; parents and a brother, Dennis Preston.
A celebration of Philip’s life will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin, with Pastor David Dyer officiating. A time of gathering for family and friends will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorial donations to be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959 or to American Cancer Society, No. 5 Schiber Court, Maryville, IL 62062. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
