Rex Allen Rhyne


HERRIN - Rex Allen Rhyne, 35, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Rex worked in the Detail Shop at Black Diamond Harley-Davidson in Marion.

Rex loved children and all outdoor activities and most of all he loved his 2013 Street Glide Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Rex was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Herrin Elk's Lodge 1146 in Herrin.

Rex was born April 9, 1984 in Herrin, to David Wayne Rhyne and Robin Renee (Swanner) Rhyne.

Surviving are his father, David Rhyne of Herrin; mother, Robin Swanner Murry and Pete Gentile of Holly Hill, Florida; sister, Tana Rhyne of Waltonville and nephew, Gavin Pedigo; grandmothers, Joyce A. Rhyne of Herrin, B. Joanne Quaglia of Port Orange, Florida; aunts and uncles, Teri (Mike) Baggett of Benton, Joie (Bill) Johnson of Herrin, Greg (Christina) Quaglia of Herrin, Doug (Paula) Quaglia of Herrin, Vickie Craig of Herrin; several cousins; step brother and sisters, Damian Rhyne, Taylor Rhyne and Quynci Rhyne; a host of special friends, including Ben Kniffen who was like a brother and his canine son, Charley.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Edward L. Quaglia, Jack L. Rhyne; and an uncle, Robert “Bob” Craig.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin, with Father Ken Schaefer officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy.
