VERGENNES — Robert Paul “Bob” Bost, 86, of Vergennes passed away at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.

Bob was born March 6, 1933, in St. Louis, a son to the late Wiley Joseph and Hallie Belle (Nausley) Bost.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Murphysboro and a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Bob was a retired co-owner and operator of Bost Trucking in Murphysboro.

He was a member of the American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 in Murphysboro, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7190 in Murphysboro and the Murphysboro Masonic Lodge 498.

Bob was united in marriage to Rose E. Parrish in Vergennes on Sept. 21, 1957. Rose survives of Vergennes.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, in Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Rev. Milton Bost will officiate. Burial with military rites by American Legion Post 127 will follow in Parrish Cemetery in Vergennes. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Parrish Cemetery Association or to the First Lutheran Church in Murphysboro.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Bost of Vergennes; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and John Kissel of Louisville, Kentucky; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Karen Bost of Saint James, Missouri, and Larry and Cheryl Bost of Vergennes; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Jim Roberts of Murphysboro; one brother, Gene Bost of Murphysboro; and one sister-in-law, Jacqueline Bost of Murphysboro; six grandchildren, Shawn Satterfield, Shannon (Brian) Kleffner, Allan (Caitlyn) Bost, Julia (Brandon) Barker, Heather Kissel and Holly Kissel; and four great-grandchildren, Hallie and Willa Kleffner, Shelbi Bost and Declan Barker. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded by two brothers, Bill Bost and infant brother, J.R. Bost.
