MURPHYSBORO — Robert “Scotty” Scott, 68, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
He was born to Essix Scott and Wilhelmina Fouche in Chicago on March 27, 1950.
Bob married LaDonna Bodkin on Jan. 25, 2006. She preceded him in death Nov. 24, 2015.
He had worked for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department from 1972 to 1976. He then began his career at Carbondale Police Department and retired after 30 years of faithful service protecting and serving the county of Jackson as a Lieutenant. He holds the record for the longest employee for the police department. After retirement he worked as security at Southern Illinois Airport.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Amy (Jeff Hawkins) Wilkinson of Alma; grandchildren, Lauren Nottmeier of Carbondale and Nathan Sanford of Du Quoin; many cousins and his three beloved Chihuahuas.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and his parents.
Services for Robert “Scotty” Scott will be Monday, Feb. 11, in Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Gray officiating. A police walk through will begin at the hour of the service. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family request that you donate a unit of blood in Bob's memory and/or memorials can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
