ANNA — Rosalee Austin, 80, went to meet Jesus on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
She was born Jan. 29, 1939, to Claude and Rosine Foster in Anna.
Rosalee married Robert L. Austin on Jan. 29, 1961, in De Soto Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2005.
Mrs. Austin was a member of the Murphysboro Senior Citizens Center, and the Kitchen Band. She was an avid music lover and piano player. She enjoyed playing the piano for the seniors at the local nursing homes and she played at the Chestnut Café in De Soto. She also had a love for animals, having rescued up to seven dogs.
She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Hall of Carterville; one granddaughter, Shannon Austin Hall of Carterville; one grandson, Alex Austin Hall of Carterville; her dog, Boomer Ang Austin; two brothers, Dick Foster and Jerry Foster, both of Carbondale; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Robert “Rob” Dale Austin.
The family has asked, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to any No Kill Animal Shelter.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, in Pettett Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Her body will be laid to rest at Murdale Gardens of Memory.
