PINCKNEYVILLE — Sharon K. (Lipe) Lazenby, 80, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Pinckneyville, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018, in Banner Baywood Medical Center, Mesa, Arizona.
Sharon was born Jan. 11, 1938, in Marshall Browning Hospital, Du Quoin, the daughter of Joe R. and Viola M. (Bender) Lipe.
She married Jim D. Lazenby on June 28, 1958, in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville.
Sharon was baptized in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, of which she was a lifelong member.
A graduate of Pinckneyville Community High School and Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Sharon worked as a teacher in Rockford, for 33 years.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, Jim Lazenby of Mesa, Arizona; one daughter, Kathy M. Gray of Louisville, Kentucky; and one granddaughter, Sydney R. Gray of Louisville, Kentucky.
We will honor Sharon’s life during the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday, June 24, in St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville. The public is invited to attend. Friends and family will have an opportunity to visit with the family at St. Paul United Church of Christ from 11 to 11:45 a.m.
Graveside inurnment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, at noon Sunday, June 24, with the Rev. Cindy Bean officiating.
At the family's request, attire for the service is business-casual.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ.
