CARBONDALE — Sylvia Feinsilver, 79 years young, of Carbondale, formerly of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on her birthday, June 18, 2019, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
She was born June 18, 1940, to Alvin and Pauline (Knudsen) Rowley, the eldest of nine, in Carbon County, Utah, into a coal mining family.
She moved to Salt Lake City, raising her daughter and son while earning her LPN in 1975.
Sylvia married Philip Feinsilver in 1977 and they moved to Carbondale in 1978.
In Carbondale, Sylvia worked in the nursing homes doing what she loved best, taking care of others. She was loved by the residents. She brought joy to all whom she would meet. She loved animals, usually keeping a mini-zoo comprised of dogs and cats and often more.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Philip; a daughter, Tonya; a son, Jonathan; five grandchildren; six siblings; other relatives and a host of friends.
Celebration of life will be at 7 p.m. Friday, June 21, in Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home. Family and Friends will be sharing words of remembrances and memories. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., the hour of Celebration in the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made and are encouraged to St. Francis Animal Shelter in Murphysboro in memory of Sylvia and will be accepted at the funeral home.
