For many years she was a caregiver for several members of her family and others.

Valerie is survived by her son, Christopher Henshaw of Marion; mother, Elflora K. Aikman of Marion; sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Jeff Hayes of Herrin; brother and sister-in-law, Vance and Marla Aikman of Marion; brother and sister-in-law, Vick and Janice Aikman of Robinson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Valerie was preceded in death by her father, Sam V. Aikman; and niece and nephew, Alexis and Brett Aikman, among other dear family members.

She will be sadly missed.

Per Valerie's wishes, she will be cremated and a private family ceremony will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the donors' choice or to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
