DONGOLA — Violet Eddleman, 91, of Dongola, formerly of San Diego, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019, at 6:45 p.m. at Integrity Healthcare in Anna with her family by her side.
She was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Ullin, the daughter of Roy Edward and Lois Alberta (Dillow) Mowery. On July 1, 1957, she was married to Gilbert Eddleman.
Violet loved working on the family farm where she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed all types of gardening, especially flowers and feeding the birds. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with all her grandchildren. Violet was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dongola.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Todd) Cerni of Longmont, Colorado; Brenda (Scott) Dixon of Scottsdale, Arizona; Judy Ritchey (Patrick Duffy) of Dongola; grandchildren, Leah Roberts, Roy (Jessica) Dillow, Ashley Dixon, Tanette (TJ) Henderson and Jayda (Brian) Egger; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Lovitt of Shiloh; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert; and brother, Bruce Mowery.
Visitation for Violet Eddleman will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Perry Williams officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to PAWS or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
