MOUND CITY — Wallace Bobo Jr. died at 10:44 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, in Union County Hospital in Anna. 

He was born June 1, 1936, in Carson Lake, Arkansas, to the Union of the late Wallace Bobo Sr. and Mattie Bobo.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son and two sisters.

At an early age Wallace confessed Christ as his savior at the West End Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri. He graduated from Sikeston High School. Wallace went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science from Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas.

Shortly after college he became a teacher a Washington High School in Caruthersville, Missouri. Later Wallace accepted a job at Meridian High School in Mounds.

On December 24, 1962 Wallace married Dessie Mae Whitaker in Caruthersville, Missouri.

Wallace was loyal member of First Missionary Baptist Church Mound City. Wallace was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and assistant superintendent of Sunday school.

He was a people person who met no strangers. Wallace enjoyed all sports. For many years he was a coach at Meridian High School, where he obtained the nickname “Coach.” He also led an active life of gardening.

Fraternal affiliations include Lily of the Valley Lodge No. 56, Hiram Consistory No. 51, Scottish Rite Masons, and Bagdad Temple No. 104, AEAONMS.

Cherishing precious memories of our dear one is his loving wife, Dessie of 52 years; six sons, Samuel (Bobbie) McFerron, Gilbert Lyde, Chris Fields, Kevin (Ingrid) Watkins, Craig Robinson and Tyron (Thelma) Robinson; five daughters, Debra (Jimmy) Freeman, Joyce Rodgers, Cherly Russey, Lorrie Greer, and Donna Brann; two brothers, Lawrence Bobo and Ronald (Darlene) Bobo Sr.; one sister, Alfreida (Robert) Stevenson; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

He shall forever live in our hearts.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, in First Missionary Baptist Church in Mound City, with Pastor, the Rev. Luther F. Butler Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Garden in Villa Ridge. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Massie Funeral Home in Mounds, with Masonic last rites.
