One person has died and another is being treated at an out-of-state hospital for serious injuries after a head-on crash Friday morning in Williamson County.
The crash happened at about 7:35 a.m. Friday on Illinois 166, about a quarter mile north of Old Creal Springs Road. Law enforcement is not yet identifying the drivers involved in the crash.
According to a news release from Illinois State Police, which is investigating the crash, a pickup truck was driving northbound on Illinois 166 when it crossed into the southbound lane and crashed head-on into a semitrailer that was traveling south. After the crash, the semi ran off the road, overturned, and caught fire.

The driver and sole occupant of the pickup was taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead. The semi driver was flown to an out-of-state hospital and is being treated for "serious injuries."
Illinois 166 was closed for more than six hours Friday while law enforcement investigated the crash and cleaned up the site.
The investigation is continuing, police said.
