Illinois Department of Transportation is alerting motorists of a ramp detour on Interstate 57 near Ullin.

Beginning at 10 p.m. on Sept. 11, northbound and southbound traffic will be intermittently diverted to the interchange ramps and back on to the interstate to facilitate the erection of steel beams on the overpass structure which carries I-57 over Shawnee College road at milepost 18.

This traffic configuration will occur nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. until the morning of Friday, Sept. 13.

Minor delays are expected. Message boards and traffic control devices will be in place to direct motorists. Flaggers will be positioned on the interchange ramps to control traffic. Motorists are advised to slow down and use extreme caution when navigating this work zone.
