He leaves behind a wife and son, who is due next month.
Original from Wednesday: A coal miner was killed at a Franklin County mine Wednesday afternoon.
The miner, whose name has not been released, died from “crushing injuries to his upper torso” at M Class Mining’s No. 1 mine in rural Thompsonville, according to a Mine Safety and Health Administration statement.

The miner was helping tram a roof bolting machine in the travelway at the mine’s Viking Portal when he was caught between the machine and the coal rib about 3:20 p.m.
An accident investigator and field office supervisor were sent to the mine to begin an investigation, the MSHA statement said.
A family liaison was also sent to the mine.
