A 25-year-old woman died Saturday night after the ATV she was driving overturned.

According to a news release from Jackson County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened after 9:45 p.m. Saturday on Swan Pond Road near Neuhaus Lane in rural Jacob.

Megan Marcinkowska, 25, of Chester, was driving the Polaris side-by-side northbound on Swan Pond Road, and the vehicle left the roadway as she tried to negotiate a curve. The ATV struck a ditch and overturned. Marcinkowska was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff's office said.

There were two passengers, 26-year-old Olivia Edwards of Columbia, who was flown to a St. Louis hospital with life-threatening injuries, and 24-year-old Dylan Wesbecher of Evansville, who received minor injuries.

None of the vehicle's occupants were restrained, according to the news release, and all were ejected from the vehicle in the crash.

The case of the crash is under investigation, according to the sheriff's office.
