28-year-old from Murphysboro dies in Sunday evening crash

A 28-year-old man from Murphysboro is dead following a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening near Gorham.

A news release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office says Lucas Bryant was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, about 1 mile west of Illinois 3 in rural Gorham. He was found unresponsive, lying on the roadway outside of a pickup truck that was in a ditch.

Deputies and the Jackson County Ambulance Service responded at about 6:06 p.m. Sunday.

The sheriff's office did not provide more information about what may have caused the crash. The news release states an investigation is ongoing by the sheriff's office and the Jackson County Traffic Reconstruction Unit.
