A Peoria Heights man is in custody at the Sangamon County Jail after leading authorities on a chase through Logan and Sangamon counties Friday morning, the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office said.
Branden Kizziah-Scholl, 24, could be charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving on a revoked license and for having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
Around 10 a.m., Kizziah-Scholl was driving south on Interstate 55 in a GMC pickup truck when he was pulled over by the Logan County Sheriff's office.
After being stopped, Kizziah-Scholl drove away, authorities said. He entered Sangamon County and then exited the interstate around Williamsville and subsequently drove around the northern and eastern parts of the county.
He was caught by the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office around the 4200 block of Old Route 36 in Clear Lake Township after the vehicle apparently broke down. He was arrested without incident.
The sheriff's office said the vehicle was initially taken from the Peoria area around 4 a.m. and belongs to the Kizziah-Scholl's boss, who was in the process of reporting it missing when the chase ensued.
Authorities said they received assistance from residents across the county, who helped update the vehicle's location, and the Illinois State Police, who helped locate Kizziah-Scholl with an airplane.
