To the Editor:
The financial situation of the State of Illinois is similar to a boat with a hole in its hull. As the water seeps in through the hole, the boat is sinking. As a temporary measure, one can only bail buckets of water. Unfortunately, the hole continues to leak and the boat will eventually sink.
I applaud Gov. J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois Legislature for taking steps to right the Ship of State. Unfortunately, these steps are like bailing water from a leaking boat and not fixing the whole.
Unless the governor and the Legislature fix the leak, which is the pension, the Illinois Ship of State will continue to sink. I appeal to the governor and the Legislature to have the courage and the creativity to fix the state pension problems.
