The Saluki cross country teams ran at their final regular season meet of the season Friday at the Pink Classic, hosted by Bradley University.

The Saluki men finished 16th out of 33 teams in the men's red race. With seven Missouri Valley Conference teams in the field and the race taking place at the Newman Golf Course, the site of the 2018 MVC Championships, the meet had the feel of championship tune-up.

Redshirt senior Josh Maier was once again the top finisher for the Saluki men, as he placed third overall in a field of 273 runners with a time of 24:34.1. He was the top NCAA DI finisher Friday, as both runners that placed ahead of him, Zach Panning and Enael Woldemichael, are from 2017 NCAA DII Champion Grand Valley State. Maier held off a pack of Braves, who placed four in the top-12 en route to winning their home meet.

Redshirt junior Cain Hassim posted a seven second PR at 25:15 to finish 34th while freshman Jacob Bryan chopped :30 seconds off his previous-best 8K time to cross the finish line in 26:21.3 and place 143rd. Theo Hassim also set a new 8K PR at 26:23.9, as did Michael Church 26:51.2.

Bradley won the men's race with an average time of 24:50.4. Grand Valley St. took second, while Illinois finished third on the men's side.

The Saluki women finished 28th out of 39 teams in the women's red race. Megan Krolak continued to set the pace for the Salukis, as she ran 21:51.4 to finish 53rd. She was the sixth Missouri Valley Conference runner to cross the finish line Friday.
