CARTERVILLE – Former John A. Logan College and UCLA standout basketball player Lazeric Jones has been selected to play for the Chicago Bulls summer league team with games beginning this weekend in Las Vegas.
A 6-foot-2, 190-pound point guard, Jones helped to lead the Volunteers to a Great Rivers Athletic Conference championship his sophomore year in 2010 before enjoying successful junior and senior seasons with the Bruins, being named Second Team PAC 12 All-Conference in 2012 after averaging 13.5 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game.
A product of Chicago Simeon High School, Jones attended a brief summer camp with the Sacramento Kings of the NBA in 2012 before accepting an offer to play overseas for Israel. He has spent the last two years honing his skills.
“I’m very proud of Lazeric. He has worked hard to get this opportunity with the Bulls,” said Logan head coach Kyle Smithpeters, who served the college as an assistant coach when Jones played for the Vols.
