David Sloan had a triple double and Jay Scrubb added a double-double to lead John A. Logan to a hard earned 84-69 win over Southwestern Illinois.
Sloan had 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists while Scrubb had 27 points and 11 rebounds. The win was the 10th straight for the Vols who are 14-1 overall and 5-0 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.
The game was tied 24-24 at the half as the teams felt each other out like prize fighters. The game opened up in the second half and Logan pulled out of a 50-50 tie with just over nine minutes left in the game.
Logan, ranked fifth nationally, shot 71% from the field in the second half. Jonah Jackson had 12 points Chris Harris had 11 to round out the double figure scorers.
Javonte Perkins of SWIC led all scorers with 29 points. The Blue Storm is now 11-4 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
