First Quarter

UMass 6, SIU 0

How they scored: Quarterback Randall West rolled right, and was able to turn the corner on a third-and-goal from the 4 yard line. West' 4 yard run capped an eight-play drive that started at the SIU 25 after punter Jack Colquhoun shanked his attempt from the end zone almost directly to the right. The extra point attempt by Cooper Garcia went wide right.

How they scored: Stone Labanowitz's first touchdown pass as a Saluki went to Javon Williams Jr., who lined up in the backfield and went out to the left flat. SIU lined a wide receiver up on the left side, and when he went toward the middle of the field, his defender went with him, and no one picked up Williams. He won the footrace down the left side for an 85 yard score on the first play of the second quarter. Griffin Cerra's kick was good.

How they scored: Running back Kevin Brown's 2 yard touchdown run put the Minutemen back up. UMass completed two big pass plays to score in six plays, a 23 yarder on a third-and-9 and a 36 yard play that took the ball down to the SIU 5. Garcia's kick was good.

How they scored: Labanowitz found running back D.J. Davis down the right sideline for a 32 yard touchdown and the go-ahead score. Cerra's kick was good. Labanowitz, making his second career start for SIU, stepped up in the pocket and found Davis with a strike in between defenders. Davis wasn't hit until he reached the 1 or 2 yard line.

How they scored: Williams ran it 64 yards for the touchdown after a false start penalty pushed SIU back to its own 36. Williams took the snap in the wildcat formation, and broke a tackle near the line of scrimmage. Then it was off to the races, and he broke another tackle near the 2. Cerra's kick was good.

How they scored: Williams took the snap out of the wildcat on a fourth-and-4 and barrelled over the right side for his third touchdown of the game. Cerra's kick was good. The drive started at the UMass 25 after Andrew Brito, the new quarterback, was intercepted after his pass was tipped up by wide receiver Sadiq Palmer. SIU's Madre Harper came up with it.
