After the United States took the first three games of the seven-game national women’s Rivalry Series, Canada has bounced back with three consecutive wins, including Monday night’s 5-1 victory at the sold-out Colisee Videotron. The seventh and deciding game will be played Wednesday at Place Bell in Laval, Quebec.

The 2018 Olympics without NHL stars offered a glimpse of things to come for players who hadn't yet reached the best hockey league in the world. Five years later, Kirill Kaprizov is starring for Minnesota. Wild teammate Jordan Greenway played on the U.S. team with Seattle's Ryan Donato. Finnish forward Eeli Tolvanen broke out in those Olympics and is now scoring with Donato and the Kraken. Czech goaltender Pavel Francouz helped Colorado win the Stanley Cup after beating the U.S. in an elimination shootout.

Few expected Linus Ullmark to be the top goaltender in the NHL and backstop the Boston Bruins to the best record in the league. The same goes with Stuart Skinner in Edmonton and Logan Thompson in Vegas. All three were All-Stars and are among the biggest goalie surprises this season.

The NHL coaching carousel last summer involved the Boston Bruins firing coach Bruce Cassidy and the Vegas Golden Knights doing the same to Peter DeBoer. Cassidy replaced DeBoer in Vegas and DeBoer went to the Dallas Stars. Jim Montgomery had been fired by the Stars three seasons ago for inappropriate conduct but had gotten back into the NHL as an assistant in St. Louis. Montgomery then replaced Cassidy in Boston.

Florida's Matthew Tkachuk was right at home at the NHL All-Star Game. Again. Detroit's Dylan Larkin had a hat trick, Toronto's Mitch Marner had three assists and the Atlantic Division topped the Central Division 7-5 in the All-Star Game final on Saturday. Matthew Tkachuk was the MVP after a seven-point performance in two games for the Atlantic Division. Arizona's Clayton Keller, Dallas' Jason Robertson, Colorado teammates Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen all had goals for the Central in the final.

Hall of Fame forward Bobby Hull, who helped the Chicago Blackhawks win the 1961 Stanley Cup Final, has died. Hull was 84. The two-time MVP was one of the most prolific scorers in NHL history, leading the league in goals seven times.

PITTSBURGH — Kris Letang scored his second goal of the game with 54 seconds left in overtime to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 7-6 victory over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night.

TAMPA, Fla. — Steven Stamkos scored the tiebreaking goal with 5:38 remaining and the Tampa Bay Lightning won their 10th consecutive home game by defeating the Minnesota Wild 4-2 on Tuesday night.

PITTSBURGH — The Penguins activated veteran defenseman Kris Letang off injured reserve, clearing the way for him to play Tuesday night against Florida.

Alex Ovechkin earlier this season became the third player in NHL history to surpass 800 career goals. Only Wayne Gretzky has scored more than Ovechkin's 810. But Ovechkin has not gotten within range of Gretzky's record of 894 goals by himself. Dozens of Washington Capitals teammates have assisted on goals by Ovechkin during his 18-year career since coming to North America.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Ryan Miller grew up idolizing goalie Dominik Hasek, and upon signing with the Buffalo Sabres in 2002, fantasized of one day having his name and number hang from the arena rafters.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Brent Burns, Brady Skjei and Jalen Chatfield scored to give Carolina another productive offensive outing from its blueliners while Frederik Andersen was strong in net to help the Hurricanes beat the Minnesota Wild 5-2 on Thursday night.

NEW YORK — Jeremy Swayman made 31 saves to help the Boston Bruins beat the New York Rangers 3-1 on Thursday night for their eighth victory in nine games.
