SAUGET — Gateway scored a run in the second and two in the fourth to down the Southern Illinois Miners, 3-2, in both teams' regular-season finales.

Max McNabb got the win after allowing two runs off five hits in eight innings Sunday at GCS Ballpark. McNabb struck out 10 batters and walked one to help the Grizzlies end a 38-58 season with a victory.

Geno Encina (5-8) pitched all eight innings for the Miners (48-47), who were eliminated from the Frontier League playoffs Saturday. Encina allowed three runs off 10 hits. He walked two and struck out eight.

Chance Shepard hit his 23rd home run of the season and drove in his 59th RBI of the year. Nolan Earley had his 28th double of the year. The Miners scored a run in the fourth and another in the sixth.

River City captured the Frontier League's West Division title on the final day of the regular season with a 9-0 win over Florence. The Rascals (52-44) take on Joliet (54-42), which finished second in the East Division, in the playoffs Tuesday in Joliet. 

East Division champs Washington (54-42) play Evansville (51-44) in the other playoff series.
