The Southern Illinois Miners landed another veteran minor leaguer Tuesday when they announced the signing of former White Sox and Cubs farmhand Bryant Flete.

The 27-year old Flete played in 82 games last year at Double-A Birmingham, hitting .240 with 25 RBI and 10 doubles. Flete was an All-Star in the Carolina League in 2017 with Myrtle Beach, hitting .305 with six homers and 37 RBI before being traded to the White Sox as part of the Jose Quintana swap.

A native of Venezuela, Flete has played in 567 minor league games over the last eight years, batting .256. He has played at second base, third base and shortstop, although most of his innings with the White Sox were at second and third.
