CLEVELAND, Ohio — Twelve members of the Southern Illinois University men's swimming and diving program were named to the Academic All-MAC team. SIU's 12 selections were the most of the five teams in the Mid-American Conference.
"The coaching staff and I are extremely proud of our men," coach Rick Walker said. "Their performance in the pool was impressive all season long, but the real purpose of them being here is to go to school. The way they performed in the classroom shows the quality of student-athletes that we have here at SIU."
The men's team recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.407 this fall. It was the third-straight fall with a GPA above 3.4.
This is the second-straight year where the men's team had more than 10 swimmers and divers named to the All-MAC team. A total of 14 were recognized last year, which was the second most in the MAC.
